Nizhny Novgorod is an amazingly beautiful city founded at the confluence of the Oka and the Volga rivers. UNESCO included it into the list of 100 cities of special global historical and cultural value. The city boasts over 600 historical monuments, including Chkalov staircase and Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. It is a lively city with almost as many cultural events as in Moscow. During the year it hosts numerous exhibitions, biennale, musical and creative festivals.
